A Seafood Boiler prepares, cooks, and seasons large batches of seafood—crawfish, shrimp, and crabs—in high-volume restaurant. They are responsible for managing boiling pots, optimizing spice levels, ensuring food safety, and maintaining a fast-paced, clean kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Boiling Operations: Operates large natural gas boiling pots to cook seafood and sides (corn, potatoes, sausage) to precise specifications.
- Seasoning Control: Applies specific seasoning recipes to achieve the desired flavor profile.
- Food Preparation & Safety: Cleans, rinses, and inspects live seafood (crawfish/crabs), properly storing or thawing inventory while adhering to health codes.
- Quality Assurance: Tests batches to ensure consistency and quality.
- Cleanliness & Safety: Maintains a clean workspace and operates equipment safely, often in hot and humid conditions
Qualifications
- Experience: Previous restaurant or kitchen experience is preferred (often 1 year) but not always required.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy loads (up to \(50+\) lbs), stand for long periods, and handle high heat.
- Skills: Strong work ethic, attention to detail, reliability, and capability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Certification: Servsafe a bonus but not required.
